U.S. House Candidate to Hold Town Hall Meeting

According to a news release issued in regards to the upcoming November Election Day, Bill Randall, Republican candidate for the U.S. House for N.C. District 13, is holding a Town Hall meeting on Monday, September 20, in Rockingham County. 

The public is encouraged to attend the meeting, which will be held at the Rockingham County High School auditorium, located at 180 High School Road in Wentworth, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. 

Randall has held several Town Hall meetings throughout the district.  According to the release, he states that his major objective in doing so is to listen to the residents. 

"Bluegrass on the Square" to Feature Night of Free Bluegrass

"Bluegrass on the Square" is a free bluegrass concert to be held on the evening of Saturday, September 25, from 4:30 to 9:30 p.m. 

National bluegrass artists including Steep Canyon Rangers, along with regional artists Kickin’ Grass and local band Blues Creek will each take the stage for this free night of performances. 

Bluegrass on the Square will be held at Market Square in Reidsville. 

"Temptations in the Garden" to Feature Finest in Local Dining

The Chamber of Commerce will be hosting its 5th Annual “Temptations in the Garden – A Celebration of Food, Wine, Music, & Art,” on Thursday, September 30, at the Oak Hills Golf & Event Center, located at 436 E. Stadium Drive in Eden. 

The event features the finest of local chefs, bakers, cooks, and caterers, who will each be offering their services specialties at the event. 

MillerCoors will be sponsoring the event and serving drinks.  Non-alcoholic beverages will also be available. 

Tickets cost $20 in advance and $25 at the door. 

Reidsville Downtown Cruise this Weekend

Downtown Reidsville streets will be reserved for “cruisin’” this Friday. 

The Reidsville Downtown Cruise will open the streets at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, September 10.  The event is hosted by the EZ Street Cruisers Car Club & Reidsville Downtown. 

All makes and models 25 years or older are invited to cruise the streets this weekend from 6 to 9 p.m. 

Restaurants and shopping will all be available by strolling the streets. 

The sounds of the Beatles and Carolina Beach music will fill the streets during the Cruise. 

Fuzzy's Pushes Ticket Deadline Back for Wainwright Benefit Concert

Fuzzy’s Bar-B-Que of Madison, located at 407 Highway Street, has delayed the deadline to purchase tickets for the Loudon Wainwright III performance at Governor Morehead Park until Monday, September 20. 

Reservations cost $25 for an individual or $200 for a reserved table for eight.  No tickets will be sold at the gate.  To purchase tickets, visit www.charlie-poole.com, or call (336) 623-1043 or (336) 627-0816. 

Reservations include a spot at the show and a full barbecue dinner provided by Fuzzy’s.  Gates will open at 5 p.m. and dinner will be served at 6 p.m. 

The Grammy award-winning musician will be performing on Saturday, September 25 at Morehead Park in Eden. 

RiverFest 2010 Around the Corner

As September approaches, Eden residents always anticipate the arrival of RiverFest.  The anticipation is well-deserved this year as the festival is filled to the brim with recreational opportunities. 

The day-and-a-half Seventh Annual RiverFest festival is scheduled for Friday, September 17, from 5 to 10 p.m., and also Saturday, September 18, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. 

The bulk of the shopping, food, and entertainment is huddled up on Washington Street, located in the historic Olde Leaksville Shopping District. 

This year's festival entails two stages for numerous concerts throughout each day, headlining Suicide Blonde on Friday evening at Stage 1 from 7 to 9 p.m., and the Sleeping Booty Band on Saturday evening from 7:30 to 9 p.m. 

Fire Department to Host Blood Drive/Fundraiser Dinner

The Yanceyville Road Volunteer Fire Department is hosting a Blood Drive and BBQ Chicken Dinner/Fundraiser on Saturday, September 11. 

The fundraiser dinner will take place at the Fire Department, located at 3361 US 158 East in Reidsville, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. 

The cost of dinner will include a leg and thigh, potato salad, slaw, roll, and desert for $6. 

Anyone donating blood will receive a $3 discount on the cost of dinner.
