Suspect arrested after man shot, killed in southwest Va.

HENRY COUNTY, Va. — A man was arrested after Henry County deputies said he shot and killed a man Friday night at a home in southwest Virginia.

Marcus Ryan Barnes, 34, of Fieldale, Va., is accused of murdering William Bradley Doss, 28, at the victim’s home in Bassett.

Authorities said they were called to a residence in the 2000 block of Blackberry Road around 7:13 p.m. They said they found the victim bleeding from a chest wound.

Deputies said the victim was pronounced dead after being taken to the Memorial Hospital of Martinsville and Henry County.

Barnes was charged with first degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Deputies said he is being held in the Henry County Jail without bond.
